About the Institute

The Independent Institute of Education (IIE) serves as the overarching academic body for the following educational brands, Varsity College ®, Vega - The Brand Communications School ®, College Campus ® and Rosebank College ®. The IIE has responsibility for academic leadership and governance, teaching, assessment and quality assurance. Programme development and review as well as monitoring of quality and individual site capacity are priorities. Ultimately the IIE takes responsibility for the registration, assessment and certification of all students at each site of delivery.

The scope of these functions encompasses a wide range of external aspects including the establishment and maintenance of relationships with relevant Government bodies and consultation with industry stakeholders in order to ensure that qualifications are relevant and current.

The IIE is a wholly owned subsidiary of AdvTech Limited which is listed on the JSE.

The IIE is registered with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997.  Registration certificate no. 2007/HE07/002.
